Sabyasachi Spring Summer 2019

This just in. Sabyasachi launched his spring-summer 2019 collection titled ‘Namaste Easy’ on Instagram yesterday. I don’t know about you. But I was pretty much glued onto Instagram for the one-hour long unveiling of the new collection. It was almost like waiting for Koffee with Karan but maybe better? I’m not sure.

First things first. Every year, I guess the expectation from Sabyasachi just goes higher and higher. I dream of sun and stars, and so much more from his designs. For the most part, Sabyasachi always exceeds all of our imaginations.

This time, Sabyasachi Spring Summer 2019 collection was so-so for me. There were some gorgeous khadi lehengas that I loved. But for the most part, it felt a bit thanda. Tell me if you feel any different after scrolling through all the pictures.

Gold seems to be the new ‘it’ colour this wedding season, and so far I love it. There is one particular gold-gold Sabyasachi bridal lehenga, that’s love at first sight. I can’t wait for brides to wear and style this for their wedding. Also, if any of you’ll happen to visit the Sabyasachi flagship store and get the price of this, I and a zillion others following Frugal2Fab will be eternally grateful to you.

Revival of craft has been an integral part of our 20-year journey. At Sabyasachi, we believe in working with the very best crafts and textiles. Master craftsmen, weavers, printers and dyers from the remotest parts of India collaborate and partner with us to give you modern heirlooms. Many of them are multiple National Award winners. Some of them have been practising their craft for over three generations.

The collection “Namaste Easy” was focused on luxury with lightness. The fabrics used looked easy on the eyes, well most of them did. ‘Easy is the new complex‘ was the theme of the collection.

Belonging to a community, even if vicariously through a digital platform, gives birth to inner confidence. Myths are demystified, insecurities dispelled and old traditions are redefined. Luxury takes on a whole new meaning. As we discard our baggage of self and status, we learn to embrace a new lightness of being.

Some Collections just go on forever…

Since the first launch date of Sabyasachi Spring Summer 2019 collection, the designer has been sharing new outfits every single day. Today, on his Instagram account, he shared one of my personal favourites from the collection. An ivory hand embroidered bridal summer lehenga.

First, The Exquisite Pieces From Sabyasachi Spring Summer 2019 Namaste Easy Collection

Remember seeing Deepika Padukone’s Sabyasachi red lehenga? The one she wore for her goth wedding party? This one’s a very similar but in beige gold option. I recently saw one beautiful bride wear the last years red pink floral Sabyasachi.

Pretty similar to the gold one above, no? Which one do you prefer? The red one or the gold?

Coming back to the collection, if I had to pick my top two favourites from Sabyasachi Spring Summer 2019 collection, it’s got to be these two. Very different from his previous designs, one is perfect for summer pre-wedding functions. The other is a gorgeous reception night party princess look.

The Priyanka Chopra Look But, Better?

All those of you who love Priyanka Chopra’s Sabyasachi Red Lehenga, this one’s for you. While the gorgeous lehenga is similar to PeeCee’s wedding outfit, I absolutely love the little detailing on the dupatta. notice how long the train goes? If you’re looking for simplicity with a statement look, this can be your dress.

P.S. I know before this post ends, there will be that one person who is going to pop the question. Where can I get this Sabyasachi lehenga for less?

Unfortunately, not going to happen. Original is an original, and there is no replacing it. Instead, if you’re happy to go for a slightly different design, look, then you can check this post below.

Sabyasachi Spring Summer 2019 Earthy Colours To Love This Season

Ok, somebody’s got to talk about the elephant in the room. The BLOUSES!! I absolutely love the new designs. It’s perfect for summers, easy breezy and ‘free’. But should we not address the practicality of wearing this? I mean, I haven’t been to a single wedding where the bride doesn’t have to bend down to touch like a zillion feet. Unless and until there is chunky jewellery or a dupatta, this looks so difficult to do the newlywed duties.

P.S. By the end of this post, you’ll notice the blouses just disappear 😛 Although, it’s an excellent way of bringing the focus on the statement heritage jewellery. You’ll see. Keep scrolling.

Latest Sabyasachi 2018 Bridal Lehengas Just Took A Massive Sexy Turn

Interesting fact: So ever since Sabyasachi launched his previous collection (link above), I was a fan of this particular model. She looked so beautiful in the campaigns, I was just awestruck by her beauty. Turns out the model is not from Indian origin. Not that it matters, but she just seemed so exotically Indian in all of the campaigns.

Sabyasachi 2019 Khadi Lehengas

As a bridal designer, I keep thinking “what’s next?” and I keep coming back to khadi. Again and again. It is sophisticated, cultural and powerful. For me, khadi is equivalent to wellness and nothing can be more luxurious than that.

When I look back at the last 20 years, my khadi bridal lehengas are what I am most proud of. Combined with Indian jewellery and flowers they create a very potent and timeless image. Humble, with a tinge of arrogance. Some of my most discerning customers globally have chosen to wear khadi lehengas for their wedding.
Almost all of them are not on Instagram. Pity!
