Summer is here, and most of us need a fresh wardrobe change. I for one love dressing up in summer in maxis, and all things flowy and flowery. This time around, Kotwara at Lakme Fashion Week showed us some amazing new summer styles to wear to a summer wedding. Whites and light coloured layered outfits in traditional styles were the highlights of this show.
The collection titled ‘Samanzar: A Garden of Flowers’ is a luxurious line of traditional formal wear. The fabrics used were chikankari with hints of zardosi, aari and muqquaish work. Then there were familiar summer fabrics textured with softly coloured pearls and sequins giving the richness to the look. Moreover, one could also find fabrics of muslin, sheer chiffons that blended with velvet and brocade.
A separate post should be written just to admire and ogle at Sushmita Sen’s showstopper look. She looked so elegant, so radiant in this beautiful filmy lehenga that looked straight out of Umrao Jaan.
Magical was the feeling while walking the runway. I always love walking the runway in Mumbai. I feel like I am home with my family and people are hooting for me. Looking royal is very easy with House of Kotwara. – Sushmita Sen, India Today
While the label Kotwara is quite premium in its pricing, the good thing about the collection is it’s highly wearable. Whether you are a wedding guest or a family member at the wedding, there are a ton of gorgeous outfits from this collection to bookmark.
Ruffles have made their way from winter to summer fashion as well and it can be seen how Kotwara has used this trend to their advantage. A lot of drama has been created on the otherwise simple dupattas and skirts.
Some Black Favourites from the collection
This season, a lot of designers are promoting black for summer. Once before we saw how Jayanti Reddy had a lot of black lehengas in her summer collection. Now, Kotwara seems to also have gone the black way. Not that I’m complaining, both black and whites are sort of all season colors. One can just not go wrong with this shade.
