FDCI ICW 2017 has pretty much kept me busy throughout the week. Even though I am not physically attending the shows, there is just so much bridal awesomeness going on there. It is a tough job to keep up.
Today, the first thing that caught my eye – lehenga belt. Anju Modi’s collection ‘Sunheri Kothi’ showcased some gorgeous drool worthy bridal options fit only for royalty. But the one thing that stood out in her collection was the use of belts holding the dupatta in place.
I quite like the idea. The one time I had come across this concept was when I saw a beautiful Sabyasachi bride in all gold shimmery lehenga wearing a belt. It was simply uh-mazing. So, to see the trend slowly catching is up is great.
We brides normally get so hassled with our superbly heavy dupattas. It is a wedding nightmare no matter how awesome it might look. Having a belt in place makes life easier on so many levels. Now you don’t need to worry about your dupatta slipping off, or having to fix the dupatta 10000 times during your ceremony especially the sangeet function.
I loved how couture designer Anju Modi played with the belt lehenga, and showcased a number of ways of using this accessory. It’s not just to wear with the lehenga but pretty much any and every ethnic outfit. That’s just genius.
There were a few grooms-wear outfit options too. Simple, to the point and elegant her collection of sherwanis were classics. I loved how the designer showcased both coordinated bride and groom outfits. That just makes life so much easier for brides to figure out what the man should wear.
The showstopper of the show was our very own Dia Mirza. She looked every bit a doll she is. That sheer dupatta with the full flared floral lehenga skirt and minimal jewellery. Her look was perfectly balanced out and the result was spectacular.
