Its a million dollar question right? Where will I find the lehenga. Lehenga of my dreams, lehenga that I think is expensive but I am hoping by some miracle fits in my ‘budget’. We all girls go through it and its only human of us to feel that way.
But alas, it is a miserable time-consuming head scratching feeling till you land that gem of a lehenga. For the most part, if you are starting from scratch, it’s a difficult task. No sugar coating it. Lehenga prices are touching the roof year after year, and the bar for the minimum budget seems to only be going up and up and up.
So if you’re a bride to be, what should you do ?!
Luckily, I have some information that may come of use to you. You see, I was a bride with a budget of just under 30k. That in today’s date is less even by prewedding outfit standards. But budget is a budget, and I firmly believe one should stick to it for the most part that is.
You see, weddings as it is, is an expensive affair. No matter how much you try to control the urge to not splurge, its just not that simple. But if it is Budget Lehenga stores that you’re looking for, maybe this chart will shed some light.
I have spoken individually about these stores in one of my previous posts – Where to shop for bridal lehengas in Delhi and Mumbai. You will get an idea of the kind of outfits, individual price options and more tips and tricks.
If you want to know of some designer labels which keep budget lehengas then these are the designer labels you should know about:
I personally am loving the collection by Shyam Narayan Prasad for budget bridal lehengas. there are decent flared lehengas even in the range of below 35k after discount. Sure, the higher amount lehengas obviously do look better, but if you have a budget crunch, then don’t shy away from approaching his label.
Love gota and jaipuri outfits in leheriya and mirror fabrics? Then Deepak Khanna is the label for you. From candy coloured floor length anarkalis to crop top jackets in heavy work, his outfits are worth every penny. I found the designer in various wedding exhibitions, and though they didn’t have lehengas on display. They are open to customisations. So it would be a good idea to check with them.
I came across this brand when I moved to Gurgaon. They have a nice store nearby, and have beautiful prewedding outfits in the under 30k range. I haven’t seen their bridal range yet, but it starts upwards 25k. So you might just find something good in the under 40k range.
Another one of my wedding exhibition finds. If you are into sequins and heavy work lehenga but on a tight budget, then Imli Couture has some great options for you. The best part is they are completely into customisations which mean, they can fit your lehenga in your budget.
Again a good choice for prewedding outfits, you will find some stunning pieces in jaw dropping awesome prices. Check out the collection by clicking the link above.
Priti Sahni is one of my recent finds. What I love about her lehengas is that they have the perfect balance between heaviness of the dupatta vs skirt. If you notice in her outfits, either the dupatta is the focus or the skirt, its never the two together.
There is no rule which says a particular lehenga is fit for a prewedding function as opposed to a wedding ceremony. Every outfit can be made to work out if you plan it out well. Take for instance Abhinav Mishra lehengas or for that matter even Anushree Reddy floral lehengas. I have seen brides donning the same outfit style for both their prewedding and also the main wedding function.
In the end, always remember that a bride no matter what she wears is going to look her radiant best on the wedding day. You can always jazz up your wedding outfit to make it more ceremony appropriate and this way you also save some heavy moolah 🙂
Another one of my recent favorites. I am in love with Swati Manish lehengas. If you are a Mumbai resident, I highly recommend paying this designer a visit. Her collection is vast and pretty much countless. I have narrowed down and shared my top 100 favorites from her collection in an earlier post. You can see the outfits by clicking the link above.
