I have been following Mrunalini Rao’s designs for quite some time now. Remember my last post about where to buy lehengas in Hyderabad? Since then, I have tried to keep up with her new designs, outfits and collections. So naturally, when she revealed her latest collection ‘Banjara’, I was super stoked.
Mrunalini Rao’s latest collection is a treat to the eyes, and makes for the perfect prewedding & sister of the bride/groom outfits. The collection has a great mix of colours from mustard to pista green reds and champagne among others. The range of colours is what makes Mrunalini Rao’s collection stand out. No matter what your taste you will find something to your liking.
Mrunalini Rao Lehengas for Sangeet Night
This champagne aaeena lehenga has to be my top favourite this season. Just look at that dazzling skirt. Doesn’t it make for the perfect sangeet night outfit. Its one hell of a show stopper outfit for sure. The flared lehenga skirt in net with sequinned bootis looks feather light and is perfect for reusing post your wedding functions.
Mrunalini Rao Lehengas for Mehendi Function:
Chartreuse Darpan Gota Lehenga is a beautiful outfit for a mehendi function. These two colours areis trending this season, and the unique gota designs give te outfit a regal look. A lot of Indian Weddings these days have parrot coloured themes and props doing the rounds, these two outfits will blend beautifully if you’re planning something on similar lines.
The Lambani (also called Banjara) women specialize in lepo embroidery which involves stitching pieces of mirror, decorative beads and coins onto clothes.
Mrunalini Rao Lehengas for Sister of the Bride/Groom:
The quintessential sister of the bride/groom lehengas. Grey lehengas are trending this season, and looks quite unique and one of a kind. On the other hand, a classic shimmer shine red pop lehenga is great if you want to make a statement at the wedding. After all, the sister is the cynosure of all eyes at any wedding.
Talking about the collection, here’s what the designer said:
Bani Thani is one of the Indian miniature paintings from the Marwar school of Kishangarh. It portrays a woman who is elegant and graceful. She has also been labelled as India’s “Mona Lisa”.
Bani Thani was believed to be the mistress of the King Sawant Singh, and later became one of his wives. She came to be known as ‘Bank Thani’, which means “the decked out lady”, because of the exquisite jewellery and makeup that she used to adorn herself with after becoming queen.
Mrunalini Rao Lehengas for your Best Friend’s Wedding:
Leheriya lehengas and Khadi block print skirts are great when you want to dress up, yet not all that much. Alternatively, if you happen to have a heavy lehenga skirt, team it up with a bold solid coloured blouse like in the outfit above, and look stunning in your best friends wedding.
How much do Mrunalini Rao Lehenga cost?
Lehengas start 50k upwards but you can find some good pieces in the 40k range as well. Gowns are priced lower between 25-40k. The designer also stocks beautiful tulle sarees.
