Bajirao Mastani inspired collection by Anju Modi

The Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015 happened in Gurgaon recently, and although I am not a fashion watcher as such Instagram again popped certain pictures over the past few days which caught my eye. I guess some of you must have seen pictures of Deepika Padukone looking absolutely heavenly in a bridal Anju Modi creation walking the ramp. It was for this show.

This year Anju Modi’s collection was inspired by ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and saw the actress as the showstopper. What was different about the show was, the song Deewani Mastani was launched at BPFT 2015. I have seen some bits and pieces from the upcoming period drama and I cannot wait for the movie to hit the theatres. The last time I was this excited was probably seeing Jodha Akbar, for the simplicity and opulence bridged perfectly in all of Aishwarya Rai’s outfits in the movie. I am sure Deepika is going to look ravishing in the movie, and this fashion show gave a glimpse of what was in store for the audiences.

Doesn’t she look just out of the world in this outfit?

Major celebrity fan crush just happened by looking at her pictures. I was almost contemplating on doing an altogether separate post itself on Deepika’s look. She looks absolutely radiant. I think Anju Modi has nailed it with this creation !

I didn’t know much of Anju Modi till I saw her creations on TheDelhiBride’s post earlier. Ya ya I know silly me, but really I think for me I go completely blank after few names like Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani and few more. Anju Modi never really featured at the tip of my tongue for bridal wear. But just how wrong I was…

If I wish for my bridal wear (like dream wish), I probably know Anju Modi would have done it the best out of the lot. And I am not just saying because of Deepika’s outfit, but her entire collection was soo stunning to look at…in a way I found it sober, elegant yet dressy enough for a bride. It definitely suited to my tastes…let me know of what you think of her collection…

But wait, wait…

Let’s first do all possible looks and pictures of Deepika Padukone, because seriously in this outfit…she looked totally worth it…

Can you picture yourself in this look for your bridal attire? Because I totally can and how I wish I had this outfit for my wedding….the jewellery, the dupatta, the velvety bits, its all just bang on….The flare in her outfit was outstanding…I want to live in the age of Bajirao Mastani if this how people dressed back then….

Anyhow, dream time over –  *crushes the heart and moves on*

Ok, I know Deepika Padukone is Deepika Padukone, but the rest of the collection were outstanding as well. I think I have the pictures of her entire collection. But…

These were my top favorites:

I found the look simple, sober yet hitting the right chords. The blouse was simple yet the skirt made up for it and the chunky earrings and jhummar just did the trick. I love this look primarily because I am looking at the models face and not just ogling at the outfit. I guess this outfit is more apt for a mehendi sangeet night rather than reception.

If you want a bridal piece, you should be the one shining more than the outfit…at least that’s what I think….somewhere that balance needs to be there.

Another favorites in the red maroon look. I love the detailing on the lehenga skirt for this one. Quite classy, but I wish it looked heavier and more bridal like on the top and with the dupatta. Nevertheless I think it can really work well with mix-matching. The dupatta can be easily worn over anything plain silk like, adding some drama to the outfit. Also, I think the blouse is pretty in brocade, quite simple to look at so can be easily reused with some other outfit as well.

I love the play of colors and prints in this outfit. All the colors be it peach, off white, maroon or blue…they are blending so seamlessly with each other. With the other outfit I love the lehenga color…its super pretty. You must enlarge it to have a look…it has the right amount of shine and with the work on the skirt, it looks stunning. The blouse is also kind of unusual but somehow goes well with the entire look.

This one is so pretty….perfect trousseau piece…I definitely think so…its fabric heavy making it look dressy yet in a sober way so you don’t end up looking too decked up yet you stand out from the crowd. Its a gorgeous piece. I am totally crushing on this front slit fashion trend. I hope its here to stay for long…

What’s nice about this outfit is that you can even wear it for a function or you could even dress it down by not wearing the dupataa…the outfit solely can also be worn which is great.

This is a nice modern twist to the otherwise traditional look from the previous design. The long jacket with the front cut gives the right amount of oomph to the summer looking outfit. I feel the above two outfits are totally wearable by anyone. I love the play of colors in her outfits…they just go so beautifully in sync.

True true…I am loving her collection too…so different from the rest…How I wish designer wear came at a reasonable rate…but off late, my eyes are stuck on Pakistani Bridal Fashion…its just so different from the usual chutter-putter we see in Indian Bridal wear…

Even i wish they were reasonable – I guess these days traditional silks, banarasis are back with a bang – even sabyasachis new drool worthy collection was all about banarasis and silks. Good for people like us who like silk more than bling 😉

Pakistani bridal wear is amazing- I am in love with this brand called ‘Elan’ – its superb n subtle and just amazing. Perfect for reception wear- the availability in india is a problem – though i have heard there is this place in delhi where you can get it. Talkin bout pakistani stuff, there is this facebook page called nino’s creations – which makes amazing gota patti accessories – ideal for mehendi and not to expensive also – you should definitely check them out.

Oh yes…thank god banarasi is back…I think its eternal…but good for us…my eyes hurt when I see bling…its just too much…but I am loving pakistani bridal fashion…like totally loving it…so different, blingy but in a nice way…I think they have struck the right cord getting the balance between bling and colors…

I love Elan too…the collection this time too was amazing…but personally I loved Nomi Ansari…I could see me wearing something like that, so fresh with colors…I totally loved it…

Pakistani fashion and reasonable?? I will definitely check out Nino’s creations then…doesn’t hurt to have one or two outfits included in the trousseau which looks a bit different…

Ninos is accessories like haath phul, mang tikka etc…gotta patti jewelery – mehendi k liye isiliye cheap… bridal wear from these known designers is expensive hi… I ll check out nomi ansari… 🙂 …. no harm in seeing right?

Ohhh…I thought ninos is more about outfits…I got my mom to stitch me my mehendi sangeet outfit…so she has been super busy to get that done… 😀 I feel bridal wear from any designer – non-designer is expensive. The minute one says bridal, and gone..finished…everyone just automatically adds couple of zeros at the end.

I am so glad I am done with most of the bridal shopping…cannot go about this again !

Hi Nisha,
If you’re looking for the same costume, it was designed by Anju Modi…you can connect with the designer to see if the outfit is available for sale.
