Its less than 3 months to go for my wedding, and a big part that is still pending is the Wedding Invitation Card. I was getting so nervous about this one, I had absolutely no clue where to go looking for one, what the cost would be like…what color, design, pattern to choose, and what would be the ultimate kind that I would fall in love with for my wedding card.
There is one Lehenga, one ring, one wedding…everything is one-one.
It becomes so difficult to drill down and choose that one thing out of the lot. Its just crazy. We plan our entire life around this day, and when it comes to it we have to make the difficult choice of letting go of so many good things and picking out the best one.
The same problem stands for wedding invitation card as well. Nowadays there are such gorgeous options available, that its almost impossible to have it all in like one card. From box invitation cards, to scrolls, laser cut invitations to the zillion shapes possible for the invitation card…one really is spoilt for choices.
I recently went on a shopping trip to Bhuleshwar, and there was this lane called Dadiseth Agiary which is dedicated towards selling Wedding Invitation Cards only. Shops on both sides of the lanes were filled with wedding invitation card stores. The best part was I saw different designs and kinds in each of the shops making it rather difficult to shortlist and pick favorites. Every shop had some specialty and in the end I was one confused soul !
So I thought why not lay it all out…all the kinds that I have come across, ranging from simple, sober, elegant to big, opulent, out of the world kind invitation cards in this one post. From there on, it will be easy to shortlist and pick from that one kind of wedding invitation card ONLY. [If only that was possible]
FOLDABLE WEDDING INVITATION
This lovely foldable Wedding Invitation Card is great to look at and automatically makes different sections for writing about different ceremonies. I think it makes super budget sense if you don’t want additional (read separate) invitation papers for different ceremonies like mehendi, sangeet, reception and pheras…
Depending upon your choice of card, a separate ceremony invite can easily cost upwards Rs.5 per sheet. This I am saying is for the basic card which is like 20-30 bucks. If you choose a higher costing card, additional paper sheets will automatically cost that much higher.
RECTANGLE LONG WEDDING INVITATION
I love this design for its simplicity. If you’re not the blingy loud kinds and want to play in the safe zone, then this wedding invitation is perfect. Its sober and can work as an alternative to the foldable look invitation card.
SEPARATE INVITATION FOR DIFFERENT CEREMONIES
I saw similar kinds in Bhuleshwar…separate sized and colored invitation cards for each of the events. Overall, when you look at them, they look really appealing if you go for some funky shades like majenta, mustard, blue, red combinations. Depending on your color tastes, you can go ahead with this option.
An advantage here is, if you have separate crowd coming in for different kind of events, then it makes perfect sense to go for these. You can choose, who to send which cards to. Also, for those getting invited to all the ceremonies, if gives a nice appealing colorful look which is quite eye catchy.
LACE/NET INVITATION CARDS
I am in love with laces…that matched with ribbons and it makes for the cutest kind of wedding invitation cards, don’t you think? A little quirky, and may be grey may not be my color or yours, but the idea is definitely sweet and edgy. Although some may say this looks more like a christian wedding invitation card, than Indian…but if you’re not too fussy about going the traditional way…then this is worth checking out.
Ok, so I know black is a total no-no for wedding invitation card…but the same kind probably could be available in other wedding friendly colors as well….then would you like this kind of a simple pretty wedding invitation design? I totally love this one 🙂
One can also go for those sheer translucent paper with the bride and groom picture imprinted. Can’t seem to find a picture for those, but they are available, and not too expensive either.
INVITATION CARD HAVING GODS – KRISHNA-RADHA, GANPATI
I have not come across this kind of invitation card ever, but its just so beautiful. Krishna Radha are the epitome of love and sure, why not…I think this wedding invitation card looks fantastic, doesn’t it? If you are looking for a theme wedding, or if you are an Iskon devotee, then this wedding card is just perfect.
You also have the common tested options of including elephants and peacocks if you’re not too much of the religious kinds. They make for some real good looking invitations as well.
LASER CUT INVITATION CARDS
Probably one of the best looking invitation cards I have seen in recent times…the gold looks exquisite and from the looks of it must be expensive as well, I think….but if you love this look, you could probably take this picture to the wedding card store, and he can show you something similar for cheaper…hopefully…no harm in trying right?
DOODLE FRIENDLY INVITATION CARDS
I think this is the new age replacement to the otherwise done to death off white maroon traditional wedding invitation cards… The bright pop of pink with mustard yellow is both traditional yet funky and goes well with the new age bride’s choice of invitation card.
What I essentially love about the above two cards is the funky doodle design which immediately lifts up the look of the wedding invitation card.
COASTER SIZED INVITATIONS
At Bhuleshwar, I saw a lot of these coaster sized cards…they work best if you’re looking for something hatke and in the budget. Not to big and bulky, they look really really cute and instead you can increase the funkiness factor by adding separate cards for the separate occasions.
FUNKY, QUIRKY INVITATIONS
INVITATIONS WITH MONOGRAMS
I saw a lot of these kinds in Bhuleshwar with the monograms being either inscribed onto the invitation card in 3d, or as a seal on the envelope. Its such a cute idea to incorporate in your wedding card. This is one that is a must have on my invitation card priorities.
SCROLL INVITATION CARDS
Scrolls are currently the rage nowadays. I am seeing so many varieties in designs, shapes and sizes. If you like this kind, by all means go ahead. But remember, you cannot have multiple invites in a scroll. Its a one page per scroll invite only. So depending upon your events, you might have to go for multiple scrolls in a box which again could add up to your budget.
A one page scroll invitation card starts upwards Rs. 30…not sure what multiple scrolls cost like. Will find out and update it soon.
BOX WEDDING INVITATIONS
This is the complete box invite consisting of everything from Save the Date card, different sized invitations for different ceremonies, and is in the format packed with Jaipur stationary items. Not sure what the bride and groom really put in the boxes, but I checked out the prices the whole set is close to INR 700 !
But don’t worry, if you’re looking for some box format wedding cards…you can get those for as low as 100 bucks as well. Head over to Dadiseth Agiary Road…you won’t be disappointed !
The ultimate one. Also, one that everyone is going to love. Why? Because, who doesn’t love premium chocolate pack > which means super duper expensive. If you want to go all out for your wedding invitation…then these kinds are probably your best bet.
