For the past few months, I have been constantly keeping an eye out to find my wedding lehenga. Till now, I have done some window shopping in Marine Lines targeting shops like Roopkala, Roop Sangam, Queens Collection and Kala Niketan. All good stuff but quite on the expensive side.
As always I am keeping a realistic budget in mind. I want to get mine within 30k, around 25 would be ideal. I know it’s going to be a crazy task given that all ‘good’ looking wedding wear starts 50k upwards. But that’s the budget and I want to stick to it. So today I checked out the Santa Cruz side of wedding stores.
The good thing about this place is that in one line you have a lot of good stores to look at. I couldn’t really go to every store as it got exhausting after awhile but I did get a good sense of the kind of outfits I can get in my range.
Of the 3 stores that I browsed through extensively, I found Seasons the best. Their collection is fresh with lively colors and they have an exhaustive bridal collection in every range. From getting choices in full flared to fish cuts, this place seems to have it all. In fact, I was so happy with one of their pieces that my mum had to practically drag me out of the store and stop me from buying it.
I love the fact that they keep Lehengas which are completely stitched along with the blouse ready. So there is no added exorbitant stitching charges as such. Add to that their willingness to make small customizations, and I am one happy potential customer.
I used to always feel that Seasons was just for the typical model figure [don’t blame me, have you seen the model posing in their outfits. She has a to-die-for figure]. But their collection this time around seems to want to embrace all body types. Thank god!
This piece in particular that I said I tried fit me so beautifully, it almost felt as though it was made for me and it was so soo beautiful. I got a couple of smiles from strangers when I came out of the dressing room, so you know it was for real 😀 May be I loved it more because of the fit than fabric and design, but for that moment it felt so princess like.
More so, I really liked the way the staff was entertaining us showing us every possible outfit within my budget. Anywhere I have gone hunting for wedding lehengas, the minute I say my budget is like 20-30k, I get shocked looks.
Then I get statements like, “madam, itne range mein toh sangeet ka outfit bhi naa aaye aapka” -> “aap khudke function mein sirf 30k ka pehenoge, aapke guests aap se jyaada bhaari pehenke aayenge!”
From pitiful looks to simply saying wedding wear in this range is just not possible, it really gets bugging to deal with it at times.
It’s not as if I don’t get affected by this, I do. There have been times when I go into a store and don’t tell them it’s wedding wear I am looking for just to avoid this nuisance. So it was definitely refreshing to feel so welcomed by Seasons staff.
One suggestion: If you do plan on visiting this store, don’t pre-judge it like me by the looks they have on their website. Their website actually is not updated since 2013 😐 Their collection actually has a lot to offer to suit everyone’s tastes. I wish I could show some actual pictures but pictures were not allowed 🙁 I am sharing some similar kinds that I saw in the store here.
There are still a lot of stores on my yet-to-visit list before I make THE purchase. But I am definitely shortlisting this store. The target now is to just work towards getting that Seasons models toned midriff 😛
Just how I wish. Sigh…
