I found my perfect Engagement Photographer

You know by now how crazy I am getting about finding that perfect Engagement Photographer. I have made quite a few calls, met potential photographers and nothing seems to be working out. From insane prices to being told about the sun’s angle for the right image, I have been through it all.

My desperate attempts have now officially touched rooftops on Day 7 when I change my WhatsApp status to “Want a Photographer. ASAPPP…”. But what was I thinking, even today who really reads WhatsApp status let alone check it during a crunched timeline like mine. [I get 0 replies]

STATUS: Deep breathing. [Thank you for this Baba Ramdev]

While social media on one hand is extremely useful to know about all the good photography agencies, their names, on the other hand makes for a real treasure hunt. Two Firelies One Camera to Chhabi Photography, I have finally started putting it all down in an excel sheet. With the wide variety of options and prices ranging from Candid Photography to Traditional, then Videography being altogether a different snowball, my head is going one big round.

I start making frantic calls to my friends asking for suggestions. Take a freelancer -> just go for any traditional photographer (meaning give up) -> we will click your pics. Don’t worry 😐 [Hey bhagwaan!]

As I make calls after calls, I finally hit jackpot. My amazing friend from my post-graduate days tells me that she knows someone who is her brothers-friends-friend. I quickly look up the work on Instagram and Facebook and I see that there is a certain charm in some of the pics.

I decide to ring up.

As I speak to him, I find out that he is a young boy who is actually in the middle of his board exams. Yikkees!! I nevertheless tell him about my ceremony plans and how I want someone to not give me instructions and just make me a happy bride-to-be with colorful lively pictures.

I hold my breath while he thinks it over and silently pray that he says yes. (I now know what my Mr.-to.be. must have felt like right after he asked my hand for marriage) Sacchi !

To my great surprise, he says YES! He says he will be around for the whole days function, and that his next paper is due 4 days after my ceremony giving him ample time to prepare. [I hope I didn’t ruin the paper for you, Ruel]

I choose to go with my instinct which tells me that I am in good hands. The only other time I call him after this is to tell him to make us look good, and help us with a few poses here and there.

The result: Couldn’t have been happier with the way the pics have turned out. Take a look for yourself…

What I love about Ruel is that he is so easy to work with. No fussiness nothing. You will always find him forever smiling and ever-ready to take up new challenges. I took a chance with him with my Engagement Photography, and while some may say it was a risky choice, I had faith in him that he would surpass my expectations.

He is absolutely brilliant and at a cost that I can assure you, you won’t get anywhere else whatsoever. I see most of the photographers nowadays are way too fussy about event timings, equipment’s, scope of photography and the number of shots in the given budget among other things. It was especially refreshing to find someone who genuinely took up this assignment to do some good work.

In deliverables, I got 250 edited shots which are almost close to the number you get for your wedding photography. So I was over the moon about that. The best part – I had all the pics given to me within a weeks time!! No other photography agency will be so generous with you.

What do you think about these photos? Have you been looking for a Budget Photographer too?

Hey Namrata,
I am a new follower to your blog and I absolutely love it! So glad you were able to find a good photographer and the pics look beautiful!
I adore your engagement lehenga, I was hoping if you could tell me where you got it from and how much it was (so I know what to expect) ? My brother’s wedding is coming up and i think it’s the perfect style.

Hi Anushka,
I am so glad you are enjoying the blog and thank you for the compliments 🙂
I picked up my engagement lehenga from a local store in Powai. It cost me somewhere around 7k. I was looking for something simple and elegant as I was having a temple ceremony. However if you are looking for something similar, the first copy of the lehenga is available everywhere online…on most of the websites…but I honestly don’t know what the material or the overall outfit is like.

If you are ok with a 10k budget, probably you should check out online websites like indianroots, 6ycollective…you may find something there…otherwise you will have to search through stores all around to get a lehenga in that range. Probably Bhuleshwar is a good place to hunt.
